Thats as close to purebred lab as I’ve seen – I’ve actually seen some purebreds that are no where near as nice as this one! Dont worry about the “mix” part – is someone asks – he’s a lab! Outside of a slighty longer coat – no one could really argue with you on it!
If I had to say something he was mixed with – i’d say MAYBE something with shepard in it (slightly bushier tail, but nothing else about him looks even close to shepard)
SO – its a LAB! LOL
EDIT – this is a purebred lab – and other then your dogs ears being forward more on the head (genetics) – not much difference!

Daniel asks…

my labrador?

ok, so my labrador is ten years old. he isn’t purebred, though thats how we purchased him, we were misled and believe him to be a mix of predominantly black lab, dalmation, and pitbull. back to the point, at this age should he slow down dramatically and have nearly no desire to play? In the mornings when i leave for class he always growls with me and talks back and gets very excited, but by the time im home in the early afternoon he barely gets off his bed to greet me. he won’t chase a ball anymore. he won’t play tug of war. he will still wrestle with me but tires quickly. i am worried. is this a normal age for this breed to, to put it bluntly, die out? my dog is one of my best friends. some help would be nice… serious answers only please. good answer gets an easy best answer

weight answers:

Maybe he has arthritis that would make it a pain to move around too much. This also could just be old age. 10 is pretty old for a dog, he’s gettin up there. Does he get regular check ups? You should have a vet take a look at him and see if she can put him on any meds for old age problems. I’ve never had a dog get old on me before, something always seems to happen to them before that! It must be really hard watching your buddy grow old, I’m sorry you have to experience this. Good luck, I hope the vet can figure something out. :)

Laura asks…

How do you deal with a dog that is in heat?

Heres the problem, he is a male mix of pitbull and rottwiler. we have another black labrador who is on her period and he is going crazy so we keep them apart. they are kept apart but now he is going crazy all over me trying to hump my leg and stuff. he is goooooing craaazy jumping all over me and wont leave me alone! what do i do???

what am i supposed to do? jerk him off??? lol jk. we cant get him neutered for another 2 more weeks!

weight answers:

Just make sure to keep them speperated or else your going oto have puppies. Keep them in spereate rooms.

Steven asks…

What Should I Name My New “Street Pup”?

I just recently decided to pick up a “stray” pup who had been staying near my work for over 3 days. We’ve called both local animal shelters to file a found dog report. And no one has also been looking for the pup. He’s a pure black American Pitbull Terrier mixed with what I think is Labrador Retriever.
We were calling him “Dodger”, as that’s all he did for the last 3 days near the highway, and in the parking lot where I work (was dodge cars). He is about a 4-5 mo. old pup, and has -the- sweetest disposition. And is already extremely loyal. We’ve had him over 3 days now, and have decided to keep him, since no one’s called to claim him.

So I’d like a name for him.
I want something “tough”, but can also be sweet.
I was thinking of Charlie, or Charcoal (calling him Coal for short), but a friend has a pup named Charlie. So I wasnt really looking at it too hard.
A few others I was looking at was;
Soldier
Tank
Diesel (too over-used though)
Monster
Spike
etc.

He’s incredibly hand-shy, and has horrible seperation anxiety. He is getting used to being on a leash though, and is finally able to get well-balanced food in his belly (was practically skin and bones when I decided to take him home.)

I will be posting links to pics later today.

Any names given would be much appreciated.

weight answers:

Why not stick with Dodger?
Its a cute name…and it has a story behind it.
I like names with stories behind them because it makes a happy ending.
And we all like happy ending..right?

Congrats!
