William asks…

What kind of bug is in my house.?

I have looked at different pictures of roaches, but none of the pics look like this bug. It is as small as an ant but thick enough to be a baby roach. A couple of weeks ago new neighbors moved in and the bugs started to show up. Am I looking at baby roaches. If so, what are the best sprays that I can buy to get rid of them.

weight answers:

Try Raid.:D

Sandra asks…

Can you help me identify this wierd looking bugs?

While hunting this year my husband noticed a rather wierd looking ant…. he thinks. It is shaped like and ant about an inch long. Is fuzzy and black and red striped like a bee. The other bug looks like a stink bug, can fly, and is fuzzy and striped yellow and black like a bee. Does anyone know what kind of bugs these are? We live in Tennessee

weight answers:

The first sounds like a velvet ant. This is a wasp with a very painful stinger so it doesn’t mind being brightly colored. The hair is in reds, orange and yellows which can occur as a single color on a wasp or may be striped. The male has wings and the female doesn’t. It occurs in arid areas of the south and west. I have never heard of a hairy stink bug and my insect book does not list any. You could look at the velvet ant on ‘whatsthatbug.com’ They may also have suggestions on your stink bug if no one here help you.

Jenny asks…

What kind of bug or insect is this?

it is red all over with black stripes going horizontal and it looks like an ant is it dangerous I stay in Georgia us state

weight answers:

Velvet ant or mutillidae; basically a wingless wasp. They sting like wasps (can sting more than once) and the sting is very painful but not lethal unless perhaps an allergic reation which is very rare.

Carol asks…

What kind of bug is this? PLEASE TELL! 10 pts?

It looks like hamster poop and when it walks it looks like an ant but its not an ant. they are buy the hamsters and we wanna know what they are.

weight answers:

Do you know where it came from? The butt, hair, skin, ear?
Or was it there when you got there?
Maybe it is a bug that came inside.
Pls be more specific.

Chris asks…

What kind of bug makes a nest that looks like mud?

It’s not a potter wasp nest, or a mud dauber because there is no opening. It looks like someone took a ball of mud and threw it in the corner. It is very dark brown, almost black, smooth, and no openings. I cannot find anything like it online. I assumed wasps but I have found nothing. My mother thinks it is spiders or ants?
This is the best pics I could get of it.

I’ve just checked and it is not a stinkbug nest. They don’t seem similar at all. :(

weight answers:

There is a striking similarity between the nest in your link and the one in my link that is is the nest of the Mud Dauber wasp. Take a look and see how it builds it’s nest.
